Neighbors, today we are being treated to a guest post by a friend of mine, Cyndy, over at Daily Cynema. She is organizing a shoe drive for a non-profit called Soles4Souls. If your tots have grown out of their crocs, if you had to size up for the school year or if you just need an excuse to shop for shoes, please consider donating your old shoes to this cause. There will be a collection box on my front porch. The cut off date for donation/collection is Oct 22nd. Read more about it below:
Hi all! I'm organizing a shoe drive for the month of October as part of the Flippin' Good Deeds Challenge. This Challenge benefits Soles4Souls, a shoe charity that provides shoes to those in need both domestically and abroad. With everyone's wallets feeling the pinch in this slumped economy, I thought that donating shoes we no longer need or wear was a fantastic way to give back since it (1) doesn't cost a penny; and (2) helps us clean out our closets (which is probably a good justification for buying more shoes!) If you have any to spare, I'd sure love to accept your donation on behalf of Soles4Souls.org I'll be delivering the donated shoes in the beginning of November to their warehouse in South Carolina.
Here's how this journey began - what an inspirational story! This is a great introduction for our kids to helping our community and those in need. Additionally, the Soles4Souls website has this pdf file Coloring Page for our kids to work on whilst we rummage through their closet.
